Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he wants to “send a message” to youngsters that using cannabis is “unacceptable”.
Mr Brown, who is examining a report on potentially tightening the law, said he was worried about the “more lethal” use of skunk – a strong form of the drug. The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, is expected to say cannabis should remain a Class C drug.
But Mr Brown told GMTV: “We really have got to send out a message to young people – this is not acceptable.”
Just a couple of things here:
1. As (via) Justin says:
Cannabis has never been lethal. Skunk the same. Just try and name one person that has died from a cannabis overdose.*
2. You have to get a message to young people? Well how do you propose to do that? By tightening the law and making cannabis more attractive because of the kudos and ‘thrill’ (for want of a better word) of breaking the law whilst getting monged? Or would that be by sending out a bogus message (can’t believe I just used the word ‘bogus’. I never use the word ‘bogus’) about how lethal the insidious weed is? The kids’ll soon find out you’re a lying fucker (if they’ve heard of you in the first place) when they smoke their first joint and their head doesn’t fall off (literally, of course) or their hearts don’t explode from the ‘lethal’ drug.

3. Skunk is not new. Strong skunk isn’t new either.
4. Skunk is not a part of cannabis it is a type if cannabis. You don’t smoke cannabis if you smoke the leaves and smoke skunk if you smoke the buds, it is a breed of cannabis. If you want to be taken seriously, get at least undisputable facts right.

5. You don’t think!!! (apologies for multiple ‘!’) How about reading the fucking things or asking someone who has read them or even fucking better, the people that wrote them!

6. So you don’t reckon previous reports took into account the strength…
Home Office research published in February suggested skunk, the strongest type of cannabis, now dominates the UK market – comprising 70% to 80% of samples seized by police.
I don’t know who wrote the previous reports but I would that if the Fuzz are confiscating that much skunk compared to ‘ordinary’ weed that the authors would’ve picked up on it.
7. Lastly, who the fuck do you think you are to say what is and isn’t acceptable when you fuck over another country (and don’t pretend you had nothing to do with it), when you fuck the poorest with a tax rise to pay for a tax cut for people better off, when you don’t listen to reports that are obviously more knowledgable than you because it doesn’t fit your own private agenda.
