Cross posted from The Sun Lies, so leave comments over there.

Gordon Smart:
…I was disappointed when I heard that Mr PETER DOHERTY, a fine upstanding member of his local community, was meeting BBC bosses on Tuesday for a job interview.
And that job is as a writer, apparently. According to Gordons’ source at the BBC, they (BBC) want a pilot episode of a Skins type drama, and if it’s a good ‘un, they’ll commision a whole series. Very nice, Mr Doherty. Best get cracking.
Only Pete isn’t going to be writing a series, or even a pilot show for the BBC.
The Quietus [my emphasis]:
…the Beeb has rubbished the rumours as “completely false”, telling The Quietus that The Sun knew there was “no truth whatsoever” in the story – published in Gordon Smart’s ‘Bizarre’ column today – before they went to print.
I don’t know The Quietus too well and I am very good at making an idiot of myself, so I thought I would confirm what the Corporation had been quoted as saying, by going to the Corporation.
I asked for the the BBC to confirm or deny if i) Pete Doherty is or isn’t going to be writing/co-writing, or in negotiations with regards to writing a drama for the BBC and if ii) The Sun or Gordon Smart of the The Sun knew the story to be untrue before publishing it (if the story is untrue, obviously).
And a spokesman for the BBC confirmed that i) Pete Doherty isn’t going to be writing a drama for them and ii)
They [The Sun] had our response in advance but didn’t put it in.
Gordon Smart/The Sun knew the was story untrue, but still ran with it. Which means they are either compulsive liars and couldn’t help themselves or they ran with it, looking at the language used, just to have a dig at the BBC to keep things ticking over until the Beeb give them a bigger target.

The Guardian…
Reiki, an alternative Japanese therapy with a growing band of followers in the west, is “unscientific” and “inappropriate” for use in Catholic institutions, according to America’s bishops.
Guidelines issued by the committee on doctrine at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops warn healthcare workers and chaplains that the therapy “lacks scientific credibility” and could expose people to “malevolent forces”.
The document also claims that for a Catholic to believe in reiki presents “insurmountable problems”.
Bwahahahahaha! An organisation that is built on the myth and legend with no scientific evidence, is scared that some of its’ members might fall for a different set myths and legends that have no scientific evidence.
Ooh, molevolent forces…
…a notion which is of course hugely credible and strongly supported by scientists, particularly those working in Malevolent Forces and Evil Spirits research departments around the world.
And, again from the New Humanist, in the interest of balance…
New Humanist was unable to find a reiki practitioner to comment on the scientific credibility of the Vatican stance on condoms and the spread of HIV…

I said recently about Nadine Dorries opening up her comments again, well, having comments again has just reminded me how incompetent the people looking after her blog are and how her blog is an integral part of her website against the rules.
Yeah, yeah, I know that’s all done and dealt with and I’m being petty but, fuck it.
Can you spot the error?

I just spotted that Nadine Dorries has got comments open again on her not-funded-by-taxpayer-and-totally-seperate-from-her-main-website-blog.
I don’t know how long comments have been enabled, but frankly, if an MP is open to the public in this manner, it would be a shame not to make use of it – in a polite and curtious manner, obviously.
It is a little odd though, that with so many visitors, she is getting so few comments. Maybe like me, they don’t know yet.
I wonder if she bothers reading them or if she gets one of her minions to do that as well as the posting…

I’m not so sure the Pope is all too worried about the fornicators, homosexuals and unfortunates that have caught AIDS or are at risk of catching AIDS and is more worried about incurring the wrath of his boss, because as we all know…
Hopefully the vid works and is what I think it is. I can’t actually see myself from my work pc. If it doesn’t, I’ll sort it later.

Informal spying on potential employees is understood to happen on a regular basis. I don’t want to name any names, but temp agencies have been known to advise candidates to take care as to what information appears on their Facebook pages, Friends Reunited accounts, blogs or other potential sources of information. Employers scrutinise these sites when reviewing candidates details to see if they are about to hand a contract over to a weirdo or some sort of inflexible, awkward miserabilist. Your blog can get you fired, remember. If you are going to have a Bebo or Hi5 page that is accessible to the public, then the best bet is apparently to project the image of a smiley, outgoing, success-driven, active, sporting, party-hard, go-getting sort of narcissistic dimwit: a miniature celebrity, with friends apparently growing out of every crevice. Employers love that shit.
The use of Facebook and Myspace to get a picture of a potential employee is fair enough, really. If the information is out there in the public domain, then it isn’t a problem. It’s called research, just like someone researches a company before applying for a job or accepting one.
But to be buying information… These companies must’ve know what they were doing was wrong.
Balfour Beatty, Amec, Wimpy, Skanska. They are big companies with big personell and legal departments that exist, in part, to make sure they don’t get caught by the law. Can you seriously believe that they didn’t know what they were doing was wrong?
Remember kids, capitialism, is not your friend.

Wikileaks:
Which? magazine, The Telegraph, Google/UK Press Association and Channel 4 have all pulled articles over Phorm Inc. (BT/Webwise) legal threats.
Which? magazine[1], an independent non-profit magazine published by the Consumers Association in the UK, carried out a survey of their readership on their responses to proposals by Phorm Inc.[2] to work in conjunction with Internet Service Providers in the UK, to use Deep Packet Inspection technology to intercept and profile their customers Internet communications to profile them in connection with behaviourally targeted advertising.
…
When the magazine was published Phorm Inc. immediately applied legal pressure to the Consumers Association. A follow up press release from CA notified publishers of Phorm’s objections to the survey and requested that they not publish articles based on the findings in the survey until matters had been resolved between CA and Phorm. Articles published online by the Press Association, the Daily Telegraph, and a video news report on Channel 4 were immediately taken offline, in response to this legal pressure, and a report in the online version of the Daily Mail was heavily edited to remove references to the Which? survey.

Bloggerheads – Somebody’s really got it in for Glen Jenvey:
For now it’s important that you take a moment, as I did, to reflect on the following undeniable facts:
– Glen Jenvey denies being ‘abuislam’
– Glen Jenvey denies being ‘Richard Tims’
– Glen Jenvey feels aggrieved/confident enough to classify my assertions to the contrary to be a criminal act, motivated by hatred.
A gentleman does not make complaints to the police lightly, and I take Mr Jenvey to be a gentleman.
Therefore the onus is on me to revisit the evidence and make more of an effort to appreciate claims that much/all of it has been falsified as part of an extremist plot to discredit a successful independent anti-terrorism operative.
As I revisit this evidence, I will be presenting fresh evidence in the form of audio recordings, and seeking testimony from a British diplomat and a Conservative MP.
For the sake of clarity, I ask you to bear with me as I do all of this while maintaining the position that Glen Jenvey is being singled out for special attention by al-Qaeda operatives determined to destroy his reputation
It’s a gripping read, is a reassurance that Bloggerheads hasn’t been infiltrated by Al Quaeda, and I think the tone that Manic has taken reflects the seriousness of the situation.
