Stop the War Coalition
Temporary email address

Stop the war has suffered a serious attack on its internet
site, which has been hacked, we assume by supporters of
Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Our website is down and our usual
email address not functioning.

We have set up a temporary email address for you to contact
Stop the War:

We expect to restore normal service soon.

Double Standards again

There will not be peace in the world if the international community falters in the face of the proliferation of nuclear arms

The whole source piece is about Irans’ nuclear ambitions, but once again, how can “The West” go on about the proliferation, or non-proliferation, while there are countries re-arming themselves or denying ownership (to mention just two, 1, 2).

The NPT is effectively dead.
What serious efforts have the nuclear nations taken to get rid of nuclear weapons, and I do not mean by stopping non-nuclear countries acquiring them.

While one third of Egypt’s army was in Yemen and therefore unlikely to start a war, Israel claimed to a believing world that the Arabs attacked Israel and that Israel was in danger of annihilation. Both claims were false.

Almost a year after the war, Israeli General Matityahu Peled said: “To pretend that the Egyptian forces massed on our frontiers were in a position to threaten the existence of Israel constitutes an insult not only to the intelligence of anyone capable of analysing this sort of situation, but above all an insult to the Zahal [Israeli army].”

Israeli forces captured the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, along with the Sinai and the Golan Heights. At the end of the war Israel had succeeded in almost doubling the amount of territory it controlled.

Forty years has gone, There has been all sorts of promises from all sides, but the terrortories are still occupied, and the Palestinians still haven’t got their own state.
Lets hope it doesn’t take another forty years.

Rumsfeld: The War Crimes Case

November 10th, 2006 § 0 comments § permalink

Donald Rumsfeld could still face war crimes charges. But probably won’t.
As the USA are not signed up to the International Criminal Court. Although Rumsfeld could be arrested on a visit to a country that has signed to it, I imagine that it is ever going to happen, what with who he knows and the grief for the arresting parties.

Anway, only two more years…
