More on Newsquest taking BNP money for banner ads across the top of they’re local newspaper websites.
Apparently newsquest were only doing it because they were under duress…
A salesman at Newsquest who said his name was James, said that Newsquest was obliged to carry advertising from the BNP as it was a “legitimate political party” and that not taking any money would be against “democratic rules of party political advertising” or some rubbish like that. He said, at any rate, that Newsquest was obliged to take money from the BNP and carry their ads because it was a political party. He referred me to the Advertising Standards Authority, who he said had codes that they had to follow.
When Sunny asked the ASA about this, he was told that no codes like that existed and the press (politics?) are exempt anyway. On Sunny went the electoral commission who stated…
“Under electoral law there is no obligation for a newspaper to carry any party political advertising. They are free to reject them if they wish to.”
So, Newsquest. Happy to take the Fascist schill.

Tell you what. I’ve found the party I’m gonna vote for in these European elections.
It’s the fucking United Kingdom Independence Party!
How mental is that? But look, ok. They may be a little rough around the edges, not entirely credible and maybe a little xenophobic, but look…
UKIP leader Nigel Farage has registered the name of rival political party Libertas with the Electoral Commission. It effectively prevents Libertas from fighting the European elections next month under its own name, instead having to use the less than snappy Pro-Democracy Libertas EU.
Have some of fucking that, pro-Euro scum!!
You may be wondering why Our Nige has decided to do the electoral equivalent of cybersquatting, but it’s not really because he’s registered the name for a *very* good and noble reason…
it [UKIP] feared Libertas ‘would masquerade as a Euro-sceptic party when its true agenda is that they want a bigger EU.’
See? Now how bloody noble is that? Protecting the electorate form having the wool pulled over it’s eyes? It doesn’t get much more altruistic than that, does it? It’s things like that, true British values, that bring a tear to my eye and make me proud, proud I say, to be English.
And just like them lying pro European scum, gotta try every trick in the book to make us Brits look bad. Really, you couldn’t make it up…
South of England Libertas candidate Chloe Woodhead: ‘Incredibly, they offered to sell us back our own name for £10,000. It’s not just underhand, it’s pathetic.’
See? Sell? Sell? They’re not selling the name back to you, Ms Woodhead. You see, now there’s been all this exposure, all this couple of inches in the press, the whole of the UK will be wise to your tricks and know you want to behead our beloved Queen and make us drive on the right so they’ll let you have it, for nothing. See Altru-fucking-tistic. The £10k is just, er admin fees.
Come on, Farrage!! Make Britain ‘Great’ again!

Via Adam Bienkov (aka ToryTroll), I’ve found that Newsquest, the parent company to pretty much all of my local newspapers, free and paid, weekly and daily, are now taking the fascist schilling.
The adverts are big banners across the top of the page completely dwarfing the title of the paper it is on…
After spending ten minutes looking at the sites of the Newsquest publications that serve my area, non turned up the BNP ad. Which is good.
As Adam notes…
Ironically enough Newsquest were heavily praised last year after deciding to no longer accept adverts from the sex industry.
But while they no longer make money out of exploited and vulnerable women, they now seem more than happy to make money out of prejudice, hatred and fear.
If you want to point out that maybe the carrying of the BNPs’ ads may not be quite compatible with Newsquests equality and fairness policy, and mission…
to publish market-leading newspapers which reflect the views of the communities they serve.
…can do so to the men in control
19/05 Update:
The ads have disappeared.

The other day, the BNP had a political broadcast on the box. I wasn’t in my beloved homeland at the time, but I heard about it, via internet chuckles of derision. Fellow geeky types tweeting about the poor production values. I looked it up on YouTube. Sure enough, it was badly made. No surprise there. Extremist material of any kind always looks gaudy and cheap, like a bad pizza menu. Not because they can’t afford decent computers – these days you can knock up a professional CD cover on a pay-as-you-go mobile – but because anyone who’s good at graphic design is likely to be a thoughtful, inquisitive sort by nature. And thoughtful, inquisitive sorts tend to think fascism is a bit shit, to be honest. If the BNP really were the greatest British party, they’d have the greatest British designer working for them – Jonathan Ive, perhaps, the man who designed the iPod. But they don’t. They’ve got someone who tries to stab your eyes out with primary colours.
But there’s more to the advert’s failure than its hideous use of colour schemes. Every aspect of it is bad. The framing is bad. The sound is bad. The script is bad. For all their talk about representing the Great British Worker, when it comes to promotional material, the BNP can’t even represent the most basic British craftsmanship.

Iain Dale has posted about Mark Thomas’ campaign to send the Queen postcards urging the Queen not to give Maggie Thatcher a state funeral.
Iains’ post is entitled ‘The Disgusting Face Of The Left‘.
Well, Maggie can have a nice dignified funeral, just not one paid for by me.
Teh disgusting face of the left? How about milk, Pinochet, neo-liberalism, selling national assets, poll tax, Mark Thatcher, Carol Thatcher and numerus other fucking shit?
Never mind the latest wheeze from those Caring Conservatives, the minimum wage opt-out.
Cunts, the lot of them.

MPs’ expenses.
To paraphrase Frank Skinner…
You’re only sorry and think the system needs reforming because you got found out.
But looking at the responses, the one in the title seems to be the one they’ve all decided to run with, but it still sticks in the throat.

On Tuesday (5 May) George Monbiot publishes a rather good interview with Hazel Blears, accusing her of having rather flexible values and ideals with regard to her unflinching support of the Labour Party of over the last twelve years.
And as if by magic, between fiming and publishing Hazel has a piece critical of the government.
Whether she is positioning herself ready for a new leader, or even to try and nab the job herself, or just trying to prove George wrong, well, that depends on how cynical you are.
Update: I sent Grerge an email asking what the gap was between filiming and publishing. The reply I got said three weeks.

I haven’t seen the news much over the weekend so I don’t know what scandal has petered out or whos’ been caught doing who or what.
Apparently it’s James Purnell that’s been caught with his hand in the till.
The Welfare and Pensions Secretary has been claiming over two grand for his rent on a second home when it actually cost just under £1k.
I feel the same as The Devil about this…
I get tired of saying this, but this is plain, out-and-out fraud.
As the minister in charge of welfare benefits, Mr Purnell has spearheaded the Government’s crackdown on benefits cheats.
Many taxpayers will, therefore, be surprised to learn about the Minister’s own financial arrangements for claiming public money.
“Surprised”? “Outraged” might be a rather better word for it.
Nothing is going to change until some of these cunts are prosecuted for fraud: and, if found guilty, then they should be punished with the full weight of the law. If they are not, then it will be an explicit admission that these greedy fucks consider themselves above the law.
And that’s when the only road open to the taxpayers of Britain is the decoration of lamp-posts…
This is the sort of stuff the police should be investigating, not scaring people with life imprisonment for leaking embarassing government and party documents.

The British National Party chairman, Nick Griffin, spoke today of a “bloodless genocide” as he defended a party leaflet which says that black Britons and Asian Britons “do not exist”.
The BNP leader was referring to the party’s Language And Concepts Discipline Manual, which says the term used should be “racial foreigners”.
In a BBC interview Griffin said to call such people British was a sort of “bloodless genocide” because it denied indigenous people their own identity.
First of all, it doesn’t need to be said, but I’m gonna say it anyway. Nick Griffin is a cunt.
Collectively, foreign residents of other races should be referred to as ‘racial foreigners’, a non-pejorative term … the key in such matters is above all to maintain necessary distinctions while avoiding provocation and insult.”
Why? Why not just call foreigners ‘foreigners’? Until they have a British passport, and then they can be called British. They’re people just like everybody else in this country, unless of course you’re a rascist cunt that thinks that people with a different coloured skin to yourself are below you, worth less than yourself. Ooh dare I say, untermenschen?
Griffin said to call such people British was a sort of “bloodless genocide” because it denied indigenous people their own identity.
I’m British. Being British is second to me be English. In fact I am so fucking English I have a name that goes back to Saxon times, Does that make me indiginous enough to say that I don’t need these fucking thick bigoted spunk-bubbles telling me how, or against what my identity is formed? My identity has nothing to do with who the fuck snuck over a border on the underside of a lorry or waltzed through terminal fucking three of Heathrow airport.
If there is a ‘bloodless genocide’ it is being unsuccessfully fought by these small-minded half-fuck-wits against anyone that isn’t up to their standard of British.
You can’t say that especially large numbers of people can come from the rest of the world and assume an English identity without denying the English their own identity…
For fucks sake. Just listen to yourself for a minute Mr Cunty. Do you know what your talking about or not? As far as I’m aware ‘especially large numbers’ of people aren’t coming over here and assuming an English identity. From your little mumblings earlier you were saying they were assuming British identities. The two are different. One is a sub-nation of the other. The people coming here tend not to describe themselves by prepending one of the British nations to themselves. How many English Indians are there? How many Welsh Pakistanis are there? I don’t know of any and I’m married into an Indian family. You’ll probably find most people don’t include the colour of they’re skin in their identity either.
…and I would say that’s wrong
That’s because you’re a cunt.
“We don’t subscribe to the politically correct fiction that just because they happen to be born in Britain, a Pakistani is a Briton. They’re not. They remain of Pakistani stock,” he added.
After reading these fuckers, don’t you just want to thoroughly clean your eyeballs…with a chainsaw?
So all these people that are decsendants of the Vikings, the Normans, the Romans, they’re not British either, eh?
our ultimate goal is the orderly, lawful, humane and voluntary repatriation of the resident foreigners of the UK.
So all these people born here but from ancestors that are from foreign climbs are not British, but are foreigners too, there’s not gonna be many people left is there?
And then what? He’ll only complain that there’s no-one to clean the shitter.
